Part of building growth mindset is helping our kids understand that we NEED to make mistakes in order to become better.
We can’t expect to be good at something right away. So instead of being upset that a creation didn’t work or a drawing didn’t come out great, we should encourage our kids to ask:
What can I fix here? How can I improve? How can I make it better?
Asking these questions and encouraging our kids will help them with their critical thinking and analyzing skills.
To help our children be more accepting to mistakes here are some things you can try:
✨Predict mistakes that can happen
✨Rephrase it as an opportunity to learn and grow
✨Provide a mantra or phrase that kids can say when they make a mistake
